Position Summary:
Epidemiologist/Statistician is required to fill the vacant position in Chronic Diseases Clinic project in Ifakara.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• To collaborate with IHI research groups in the design, planning, and analysis of scientific projects within KIULARCO
• To provide support to the core data management facilities in the definition, set-up and description of analysis tables as well as data queries for quality control.
• To contribute to the ongoing development and operation of the KIULARCO reporting tools.
• Processing of various short data analysis requests.
• Working with complex longitudinal database
• Assist with other projects at IHI based on discussion with the project leader or head of thematic group

Education/Qualification:
• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Statistics or related field
• Proficient knowledge of data management procedures

Competences:
• Good programming skills in stata (preferred),SAS or R
• Very good in communication skills, enjoy to closely collaborate in small teams. Open to discuss and implement new development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To support all scientific functions in the immunology laboratory, including planning, reviewing, documenting and reporting matters related to study specific immunology activities.
• He/she will coordinate linkages between laboratories, clinical team and project manager
• To make sure that all safety procedures are adhered to when collecting, labeling and storing all laboratory specimens.
• To ensure that laboratory data including laboratory findings are recorded as per protocol and stored in appropriate box files.
• Archive all the study samples following laboratory information management system for easy tracing.
• Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the PI.
• To perform routine tests in assigned area of the laboratory as per current SOP.
• To ensure specimens collected and received are documented or managed properly before analysis.
• To make sure that all safety procedures are adhered to when collecting, labeling and storing all laboratory specimens.
• To ensure that laboratory data including laboratory findings are recorded as per protocol and stored appropriate box files.
• To perform isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), separation and storage of serum and plasma.
• To assist in hematological and clinical chemistry sample analysis.
• To document and report protocol deviations and implement CAPA for the reported deviations.
• To perform malaria antibody ELISA, Intracellular cytokine staining, and ELISPOT assays.
• To participate in scientific discussions and project related meetings; and maintaining inventories for stored samples, reagents and lab materials.
